Set Induction
(5 mins)
1.    Teacher asks the students whether they have read the short story QWERTYUIOP.
2.    Teacher then tells students they will learn the literary elements in a short story.
3.    Teacher explains briefly about the literary elements.
4.    Teacher then tells the students what they will be doing for the next 60 minutes.
1.    Students answer the teacher.

2.    Students listen to the teacher.
















Development
(45 mins)
Activity 1
1.    Teacher asks the students what they know about the story.
2.    Teacher explains the story and summarizes the stories together with the students.
3.    Teacher then asks the students who the characters are in the story.
4.    Teacher asks the students to be in pairs and describe the characters’ characteristics.
5.    Teacher discusses the answers with the students.
6.    Teacher asks the students about the settings in the story.

Activity 2
1.    Teacher pastes a manila card of Mt. Plot on the whiteboard.
2.    Teacher then explains about plot to students.
3.    Teacher asks students to divide themselves into five big groups.
4.    Teacher then distributes a mahjong paper and an envelope filled with strips of paper to each group.
5.    Teacher explains the rules of the game.
  • Each group must draw the Mt. Plot on the mah-jong paper.
  • Each group must plot the strips of paper from the envelope and paste them on the correct side of the mountain on the mahjong paper.
  • Each group must obey Simon Says while doing the plotting.
  • The first group to finish wins a reward.
6.    Teacher starts the game.
7.    Teacher announces the winner of the game.
8.    Teacher discusses the answers with the students.

1.    Students  answer the teacher.
2.    Students listen and summarize the story with the teacher.
3.    Students answer the teacher.
4.    Students describe the characters’ characteristics in pairs.
5.    Students discuss with the teacher.
